Napapansin niyo ba kapag nakakaramdam ng “Academic Pressure” ang inyong anak, nagiging malungkot, bugnutin o iyak nang iyak kasi natatakot siyang mapagalitan niyo o mag- away kayo nang dahil sa “Grades”?
I remember yung isang Parent na nagkuwento sa akin na “Perfectionist” daw ang kaniyang anak at hindi daw siya sanay na may bumaba na grade kahit sa isang subject lang dahil gusto niya ay ma- maintain ang “High Grades” para maging “Consistent Honor Student” siya.
On the other hand, yung isang Student naman nag- share siya sa akin ng kaniyang kwento, “Teacher Sam, madami akong “Mababang Grades” sa ibang Subjects na hindi ako magaling….Na- pre pressure po ako at iniisip ko kung paano ako makaka- kuha ng “Mataas na grade” kahit hindi naman ako masyadong magaling sa Acads”…
Ang rant naman sa aking ng ibang Parents ay: “Nako Ma’am, yung anak ko masyadong marami na ang Assignments at Projects na ipapasa, makakapasa ba siya ng mga requirements doon sa deadline na ibinigay ng Subject Teacher”…
Some of you, Dear Parents, have resources kaya alam kong ibinuhos niyo ang inyong Time and Money para maibigay sa ating mga anak ng magandang edukasyon and I appreciate you for that.
Kaya lang, minsan, hindi tayo aware kung masyado bang mataas ang expectations natin para sa ating mga anak nang hindi natin sila tinatanong o kino- consult kung sa tingin nila, kaya ba talaga nilang i- achieve ang ating gusto para sa kanila.
Kapag hindi niyo ito pag-uusapan ng inyong anak lalo na kung ang concern ay tungkol sa “grades” na baka ito ay mag- lead sa pagkakaroon ng away o di kaya pagkakasundo.
These will lead to a “strain in your relationship o pagkasira ng relasyon” bilang magulang at anak.
Just like you” Dear Parents”, I also have experienced the same situation before na naka- experience ako ng pressure sa grades as a student dahil parehas “Salutatorian” ang aking Mama at “Topnotcher sa Board Exam” ang aking Papa. Kaya ang aming mga kaibigan at kapitbahay ay mataas ang expectation sa akin na magagawa ko ang achievement nila.
Pero on my part, gusto ko lang maging isang “normal” na student at anak na may less expectations, so I can live a normal life na hindi need magpa- impress sa mga kaibigan at kapitbahay namin.
These are the things / experiences that “no one told us about”. Hindi natin ito ginustong mangyari pero we have no choice but to deal with it.
